Tongerlo is a small rural town in Flanders, located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. It has a very beautiful Abbey that was founded in 1128. The Abbey contains a very old and fine copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. Recently, an American art history professor discovered that Leonardo Da Vinci probably participated in painting the version of The Last Supper in Tongerlo Abbey. Tongerlo is also known as home of the Tongerlo Abbey beer, but this is no longer brewed at the abbey.
